Why I Love Whering And Why You Might Too
I’m what professionals in the field of tech would call a “super user” because, well, I use it a lot. Non-stop.
I’m back! Writing about all the things I love that give me High ☁ Hopes. I hope you stick around!
I open WhatsApp and go to the chat history with my friend Katrina, who first introduced me to the app. I search “Whering” and I can see every single time either of us wrote the name.

- Hey, quick Q! What’s the name of the wardrobe app you’re using? I want to try it out. I bought some nice clothes and want to try putting outfits together.
- It’s called Whering. Nice! What did you get?
I can’t believe I downloaded it in 2022, since then my relationship with my wardrobe has not been the same (in the best way possible).
I’m what professionals in the field of tech would call a “super user” because, well, I use Whering a lot. Non-stop.
What is Whering?
Whering is your wardrobe, digitised and accessible on your phone through their app.
“Bianca Rangecroft, ex-banker and recovering hypocrite - founded Whering with a goal to cure the ‘I-have-nothing-to-wear’ dilemma and create a platform to empower conscious consumption, helping you utilise your spending power for good and make the most of clothes you already own.” — Whering.co.uk/about
There are over 3 million users on the platform with over 20 million items uploaded. I won’t go into the intricacies of the app and everything you can do on it, but if the idea of holding your wardrobe in the palm of your hand interests you, I recommend you check out their How it Works, for the full briefing.
The Path to Self-Esteem
… is riddled with ups and downs, sometimes more downs than ups. I noticed that over the years, I’ve become softer and kinder to myself. Let me make one thing clear, we’re not all the same, we grow and live differently. Our bodies were never meant to stay one way and so if you have struggled or continue to struggle with the changes your body goes through as you age, I have no words of solace other than welcome to the club. Ultimately, it’s ok that our bodies change, wearing bigger or smaller size clothes doesn’t make you better or worse. It’s just more or less fabric. That is all.
I didn’t always love my body but I do now, regardless of whatever anyone else could say about it. I love it because it is beautiful, it is mine and it works very hard to keep me alive.
Whering came into my life when I started having fun with clothes again and it really amplified this feeling of joy because it turned putting on clothes into what I can only imagine being in a fashion show feels like, even if I’m not always the most adventurous with outfits, I like what I like.
Ever since they introduced the styling feature where you can style any community member’s closet that is set to public, I’ve had the most amazing outfits created for me by complete strangers. I get a hit of dopamine and brain tingles, similar to ASMR’s, when I browse through what others have put together for me. Not to mention seeing people add my very own outfit creations to their mood boards. This is social media made for good.
I can’t wait to see how they evolve as a platform. I will never shut up about it and every single one of my friends can attest that I bring it up in conversation at least once a day.
